  11. The Xircom PS-CEM28 has problems with its modem functions.  They modem
  12. cannot achieve robust 28.8 connections (or 26400, 24000... etc.?) for
  13. that matter.  Xircom has acknowleged the problems in messages on its
  14. CompuServe forum.  They are apparently working on a firmware flash
  15. upgrade and upgraded Windows drivers.

  17. In the interim, make sure you have the most current drivers and
  18. firmware upgrades installed.  Also, try the following initialization
  19. string: AT &F &Q8 \Q2 W2 S95=47 S37=34.

  21. This does not fix the problem.  In fact, it disables certain modem
  22. functions.  However, it may well stabilize your albeit slower
  23. connections.

  25. I don't work for Xircom.  My only connection with them is that I
  26. purchased a CEM28 and suffered a lot of frustration trying to figure
  27. out what was wrong with it.  If you need more information try sending
